Presiden Brasil dan Mesir Serukan Gencatan Senjata Segera di Gaza

SAO PAULO: Brazil’s President Lula da Silva and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Thursday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and discussed the importance of resuming a peace process in the Middle East.

Lula was on an official state visit to Cairo, celebrating 100 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. It was his second visit to Egypt, the first having been in 2003.

Presiden Brasil Kunjungi Markas Besar Liga Arab

SAO PAULO: Brazil’s President Lula da Silva on Thursday visited the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, where he was welcomed by Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Lula recalled that Brazil was the first Latin American country to receive observer status in the organization, and said he is proud of the historical and cultural ties that unite Brazil and the Arab world. 

The Arab League’s “commitment to promoting stability and development makes this organization a voice to be listened to attentively on the great issues of our time,” he added.

WASHINGTON: The US government has seized a Boeing 747 cargo plane that officials say was previously sold by a sanctioned Iranian airline to a state-owned Venezuelan firm in violation of American export control laws.
The Justice Department said Monday that the American-built plane had arrived in Florida and would be disposed of.

SAO PAULO: Saudi Arabia is in overdrive to diversify its economy away from oil by exploring all available opportunities available domestically and abroad.

This very quest took Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih to several nations in Latin America between July and August 2023. The aim of the tour was to explore avenues for economic cooperation.

The Kingdom does not seem to be focused only on forging closer ties with big businesses, as is evident from the establishment of a $5 million fund to support small and medium enterprises in Paraguay.

BRASÍLIA: Saudi Ambassador to Brazil Faisal Ghulam participated in a reception held by the ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries in honor of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.

On behalf of the ambassadors of the Arab and Islamic countries, Ghulam delivered a speech in which he reviewed the developing relations between the Arab and Islamic countries and Brazil.

Parlemen Arab Kutuk Langkah Presiden Argentina Pindahkan Kedutaan Israel ke Yerusalem

CAIRO: The Arab Parliament has condemned plans by Argentine President Javier Milei to relocate the country’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The parliament condemned the move and said that the legal, historical and religious status of Jerusalem was not subject to review.

It said that any steps in this direction represented a violation of international law and was considered an infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Some activists have managed to attain audiences large enough to force the traditional means of communication to replicate or at least mention their content. 

The most important of such channels is Palestina Hoy (Palestine Today, @HoyPalestina on X), a Spanish-language account with over 566,000 followers.

The proposed move was announced by Argentine President Javier Milei on Tuesday during an official visit to Israel.

SAO PAULO: President Javier Milei’s plan to move the Argentinian Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which he announced on Tuesday during his visit to the Middle Eastern country, could have negative consequences for relations with the Muslim world, analysts have told Arab News.

If the plan is carried out, Argentina would become just the sixth country to have its embassy in Israel in Jerusalem, and the third Latin American nation to do so.

Currently, only the US, Kosovo, Honduras, Guatemala and Papua New Guinea have embassies in Jerusalem.
