BEIRUT: An Israeli airstrike deep in northeastern Lebanon early Sunday wounded at least three people, a local official said.
The airstrike near the city of Baalbek, a stronghold of Lebanonâs militant Hezbollah group, was the latest to hit the area in recent weeks.
The strike occurred a few minutes after midnight and wounded three people according to Baalbekâs mayor, Bachir Khodr, who posted the news on X.

CAIRO: Lebanon will file an urgent complaint with the UN Security Council over what it called Israelâs violation of its sovereignty by disrupting its navigation systems, the foreign ministry said on Friday.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said Israel was affecting the safety of civil aviation in the airspace of Beirutâs Rafic Hariri International Airport.

BEIRUT: Residents and traders in southern Lebanon have accused Israel of adopting a âscorched earth policyâ amid continuing hostilities in the region.
A security source said on Saturday that Israel was setting out to destroy residential houses and neighborhoods, as well as industrial and commercial facilities, while public and secondary roads were also being blocked to hinder the arrival of supplies.

BAALBEK, Lebanon: Israel launched air strikes near Lebanonâs eastern city of Baalbek on Monday, security sources said, the second raids in the region since cross-border hostilities began after the Gaza war.
Since October 8, the day after the war broke out in the Gaza Strip, Hamas ally Hezbollah and its arch-foe Israel have exchanged near-daily fire.
The strikes have been largely contained to the border between the two countries â although Israel has on occasion launched strikes elsewhere in Lebanon.

BEIRUT: At least five people were killed Saturday, four from the same family, and nine wounded in an Israeli strike on a house in southern Lebanon, the countryâs official National News Agency reported.
Lebanonâs Iran-backed Hezbollah movement and Israel have traded deadly cross-border fire on a near-daily basis since war broke out in October between Israel and the Gaza militant group Hamas, a Hezbollah ally.

BEIRUT: Lebanonâs Hezbollah on Sunday said it had fired dozens of rockets into northern Israel after Israeli strikes the day before left five dead in southern Lebanon, including three of the groupâs members.
Hamas ally Hezbollah and its arch-foe Israel have been exchanging near-daily fire across the border since the Israel-Hamas war broke out on October 7.
Hezbollah said it had launched âdozens of katyusha-type rocketsâ in the morning on the Israeli village of Meron, eight kilometers (five miles) from the border.

BEIRUT: Towns along the Lebanese border with Israel are becoming deserted as residents flee the Israeli bombardment, a local man told Arab News on Friday, as two more civilians were hurt in a blast that damaged a property in the village of Baraachit.
âAfter five months of daily confrontations between Hezbollah and the Israeli army, 90 percent of the border towns have become empty, while 100 percent of the residents in other adjacent towns have completely fled the area,â the person said.
