MADRID: Brazil winger Vinicius Junior said his desire to play football was reducing as incidents of racial abuse aimed at him piled up in Spain, during a tearful media appearance Monday.

The Real Madrid forward has suffered abuse from opposition fans on many occasions in recent years, with one incident in Valencia in May provoking worldwide outrage.

Spain will face Vinicius’ Brazil at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday under the slogan “One Skin” to help combat racism.

CHICAGO: At a time when Islamophobia and anti-Arab sentiment are increasing in the wake of Israel’s war in Gaza, one American governor has felt compelled to tell Arabs and Muslims in America how much they are appreciated.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has issued a four-page letter in which he says California is “a better place” because of the presence of Arabs and Muslims; offers blessing for Ramadan to the Muslim community; and vows to continue to fight what he calls anti-Arab and anti-Muslim hate crimes that are “becoming more common.”

A suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a convoy of Chinese engineers that was on its way from Islamabad to a camp in Dasu, the site of a major dam project, Bakht Zahir, a local police officer in the Shangla district where the attack took place, told Arab News.

At least 40 people were killed and over 100 hurt when gunmen in camouflage clothing opened fire with automatic weapons on people at a concert in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow on Friday, Russia’s FSB security service said.

MOSCOW: Russia has arrested 11 people including four suspected gunmen in connection with a shooting rampage that killed 93 people in a concert hall near Moscow, the Kremlin said on Saturday.

It said FSB security service chief Alexander Bortnikov had reported to President Vladimir Putin that those detained included “four terrorists” and that the service was working to identify their accomplices.

The Boston-based 1st US Circuit Court of Appeals stopped short of granting Tsarnaev’s latest bid to overturn his death sentence for his role in the 2013 attack that killed three people and wounded 260 others.

Arab Saudi Kutuk Pemboman Teroris di Kandahar, Afghanistan

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has condemned the deadly terrorist bombing in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, a foreign ministry statement read early Friday.

A suicide bombing claimed by the Daesh group killed three people on Thursday, said Taliban authorities, while a hospital source put the death toll at 20.

The explosion at around 8:00 am (0330 GMT) targeted a group of people waiting outside the New Kabul Bank branch in central Kandahar city, in the southern province of the same name.
