BEIRUT: Israeli strikes on Lebanon have escalated in recent days, security sources in Beirut said on Friday.
Seven Hezbollah fighters were killed following clashes in southern Lebanon and Syria. The attacks came 48 hours after offensives in the villages of Hebbariyeh, Naqoura and Tayr Harfa in which 16 people are reported to have died, including Hezbollah members, paramedics and civilians.

WASHINGTON: The White House called Thursday on Israel and Lebanon to put a high priority on restoring calm after new deadly border crossfire and Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah.
âRestoring calm along that border remains a top priority for President Biden and for the administration and it has to be of utmost importance, we believe, as well for both Lebanon and Israel,â National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

BEIRUT: The United Nations on Thursday said it was âdeeply disturbedâ by attacks on health care facilities, a day after several strikes blamed on Israel killed 10 emergency rescue workers in southern Lebanon.
âThe tragic events of the past 36 hours have resulted in a significant loss of life and injuries in south Lebanon. Up to 11 civilians were killed in a single day, including 10 paramedics,â said Imran Riza, the UNâs humanitarian coordinator for Lebanon.

BEIRUT: Lebanonâs Hezbollah said it launched dozens of rockets at Kiryat Shmona, an Israeli town over the border, early on Wednesday in response to deadly Israeli strikes on the village of Hebbariyeh in southern Lebanon a day earlier.
Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah have been trading fire across the border since the Israel-Hamas war erupted in Gaza, in the biggest escalation between the old enemies since a month-long conflict in 2006.

BEIRUT: At least seven people were killed in an Israeli strike on Nabatieh in Southern Lebanon, two security sources told Reuters early on Wednesday.
The strike appeared to be targeted at the Islamic Groupâs emergency and relief center in Hebbariyeh village in Southern Lebanon, the sources said.
On Tuesday, Israeli air strikes near two towns in northeast Lebanon killed three Hezbollah militants, the group posted on Telegram and Israel confirmed the strikes.

BEIRUT: At least eight people including Hezbollah fighters have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, security sources told Reuters on Wednesday.
Five were killed in a strike on the border village of Tair Harfa and a strike shortly afterward that hit a restaurant in the border town of Naqura killed at least another three people, the security sources and official Lebanese media said.

Beirut: An Israeli drone strike on eastern Lebanon targeted a Lebanese official from a Hamas-allied group who escaped the attempted killing, a Lebanese security source said Monday.
Lebanonâs official National News Agency said the strike Sunday near the village of Suwairi in the Bekaa Valley killed a Syrian civilian in his vehicle.
The security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP that the target was Mohammad Assaf of Jamaa Islamiya, a Lebanese militant group closely linked to Palestinian group Hamas.

BEIRUT:Â Lebanonâs caretaker prime minister, Najib Mikati, said on Monday that countries should pressure Israel to stop attacking Lebanon following a UN Security Council decision calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The Israeli military and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah have been trading fire across the southern Lebanese border in parallel with the Gaza war. Hezbollah did not immediately comment on the UN vote.
