TEHRAN: Tehran has strongly condemned a UN report on the authoritiesâ response to mass protests in 2022, denouncing Western countriesâ âIranophobia.â
The report was built on âbaseless claimsâ and âfalse and biased information, without a legal basis,â Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said in a statement.
International experts said the repression of mostly peaceful protests beginning in September 2022 and âinstitutionalized discriminationâ toward women and girls have led to âcrimes against humanity.â

DUBAI: Iran is responsible for the âphysical violenceâ that led to the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022 and sparked nationwide protests against the countryâs mandatory headscarf, or hijab, laws and its ruling theocracy, a UN fact-finding mission said Friday.
The stark pronouncement came in a wide-ranging initial report submitted to the UN Human Rights Council by the Fact-Finding Mission on Iran.
