Laporan: Iran Tangkap Dua Wanita Muda karena Menari di Depan Umum

TEHRAN: Two young women were arrested in Tehran after the publication of a video in which they danced to celebrate the coming of the Persian New Year, Iranian media said Saturday.
The clip of the two women hip shaking near Tajrish square, a popular gathering spot for young people in the north of the Iranian capital, went viral on social media.
“The Tehran prosecutor ordered the arrest of two women who broke social norms by dancing in Tajrish,” the Tasnim news agency reported.

Iran Mengutuk Laporan Para Ahli PBB Tentang Protes Tahun 2022

TEHRAN: Tehran has strongly condemned a UN report on the authorities’ response to mass protests in 2022, denouncing Western countries’ “Iranophobia.”
The report was built on “baseless claims” and “false and biased information, without a legal basis,” Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said in a statement.
International experts said the repression of mostly peaceful protests beginning in September 2022 and “institutionalized discrimination” toward women and girls have led to “crimes against humanity.”

DUBAI: Iran is responsible for the “physical violence” that led to the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022 and sparked nationwide protests against the country’s mandatory headscarf, or hijab, laws and its ruling theocracy, a UN fact-finding mission said Friday.
The stark pronouncement came in a wide-ranging initial report submitted to the UN Human Rights Council by the Fact-Finding Mission on Iran.

LONDON: An Iraqi girl who drowned trying to cross the English Channel died because of “people smugglers with no morals,” her family have said.
Rula, 7, fell into the River Aa 20 miles inland from Calais in northern France. She was traveling with her parents, four other adults and 10 children aged below 13 years when the boat they were traveling to the UK in capsized.

DUBAI: At least two people were injured in an incident during a maintenance operation at the Aftab oil refinery in Iran’s Bandar Abbas, Iranian state media outlets reported on Thursday, citing the operating company.

Earlier, Iranian state news agency IRNA said several people had been killed and injured due to an accident there, but cautioned there had been no official statement.

TEHRAN: Iranian authorities have confiscated the American cargo of an oil tanker seized last year after US-led sanctions prevented the entry of medication into the Islamic republic, the judiciary said Wednesday.
The Marshall Islands-flagged Advantage Sweet was seized in April 2023 while sailing in the Gulf of Oman, a key route for the oil industry.
The vessel, chartered by Chevron Corp, had picked up oil from Kuwait and was bound for Texas before it was seized, an Advantage Tankers spokesperson said at the time.

PARIS: Iran executed a “staggering” total of at least 834 people last year, the highest number since 2015 as capital punishment surged in the Islamic republic, two rights groups said Tuesday.
The number of executions, which Iran has carried out by hanging in recent years, was up some 43 percent on 2022.
It marked only the second time in two decades that over 800 executions were recorded in a year, after 972 executions in 2015, Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR) and Paris-based Together Against the Death Penalty said in the joint report.

Sheltering amidst the golden dunes, Ghadanfar Abdallah and his friends gather around a flickering campfire in the Samawah desert south of the capital, humming tunes, laughing and eating.
“When we post pictures, people do not believe that there are such places like the dunes in Iraq,” the 35-year-old oil sector worker said.

TEHRAN, Iran: Iran’s judiciary has executed a “terrorist” over a drone attack that targeted a defense ministry site in central Iran last year, state media reported on Sunday.
According to state TV, the person “planned to explode the workshop complex of the Ministry of Defense in Isfahan under guidance of the intelligence officer of Mossad,” Israel’s spy agency.
The date of the execution and the identity of the accused person were not immediately clear.
